What happens to Nak-su next (Korean)
Kim Nak-su manages to make it to the peak, hard-breathing and battling with sweat staining his shirt and legs made of concrete. Finally, he finds Gang-hun who recognises him. As it happens, this is the man who first employed Nak-su all those long years ago. And Heeop, Gang-hun sees the same spark in Nak-su that he once did.
Gang-hun tells Nak-su to embrace his new job because this will be the life (line) of him. It also begs him to accept any job from dropped headquarters.
Meanwhile, over at ACT, there are whispers that Kim Nak-su might be returning. There’s room to bring him back into the fold at head office after Tae-hwan departs. It starts with his plant As it turns out, this is the HR Team’s most difficult battlefield of the year – and they call upon Nak-su to step in.
At the plant, Ju-yeong berates Nak-su for failing to work correctly He sulks, behaves like a child and refuses to work on his tasks. When Sung-gu eventually appears at the factory, Ju-yeong morally chastises him for his behavior. Well, he’s actually meeting the Production Team here.
On the other hand, he also realizes how low Nak-su has become when Ju-yeong gives him orders and talks about removing the dog’s dung.
Meanwhile, Ha-jin succeeds in passing her real estate test and gets her sister’s car eventually. She keeps bragging about it to Ha-yeong, who then admits that she was wrong to look down on her sister. Still, she feels devastated since she is about to lose her car.
Ha-jin, however, isn’t going to take it away permanently; she is going to keep it for one day only. She even removes the plastic wrapping, which leaves Ha-yeong very surprised.
Ha-jin visits Nak-su and tells him the good news about her lottery ticket. She goes inside and starts cooking for him. They do have a little fun until the talk goes to work. Ha-jin is determined to find out the truth from her husband about the situation in ACT. She suspects that Nak-su is avoiding the truth and that this “executive training” excuse will not be accepted anymore.
After Ha-jin learns about his troubles, she advises him that it is better to leave the job at that moment not to become angry but to plan a way out first. They are indebted and it is going to be hard paying that off, and she prompts him to not take severance money. Moreover, she confesses that she has successfully passed the real estate exam which can be a support for them financially.
Nak-su reacts negatively to the news and can’t tolerate the thought that his wife, too, could be the main support of the family, so he throws her out.
Later, Nak-su has horrifying visions of himself being inferior to his wife and thus he rushes outside, yelling at God while the rain pours down.
He is wet and muddy when suddenly Jeong-tae calls. Nak-su pretends to be very busy and thinks to take a lot of pictures as “proof” of doing what’s expected.
On the other hand, Su-gyeom returns to the Jealousy, My Strength office, and he sees a letter for him. It is a letter of loan repayment with a huge total of 30 million won. Every one of the guys here has received the same letter and it is now clear that Jeong-hwan has played all of them and their money is gone. He is currently in LA and he does not pick up his phone.
Most of them can easily pay their debts but Han-na and Su-gyeom are obviously not among them; they are both rattled by the situation. Eventually, the two join forces in an attempt to sell their possessions in order to gather the money for the loan repayment.
That night, Nak-su gets a dinner invitation from Jeong-tae. He puts on his best clothes and does the executive a very big favor. Jeong-tae can’t take it anymore when Nak-su talks about his report and he tears Nak-su to pieces for being insincere.
Jeong-tae tells him that he is not taking responsibility nor he is becoming a leader. Jeong-tae claims that he has been shielding Nak-su for some time and the Asan transfer was meant to be the final straw because of him.
The two men start to fight each other around the office and everything ends up in fighting. Yet, Nak-su is calm even though he is aware of the fact that he is in a bad situation. The doubt has been removed.
Jae-hyeok expressed to Nak-su that he regretted not listening to Jeong-hwan as there is a proposal here. ACT has made a decision to reduce its labor force. This applies to the office as well as the Asan factory, which is going to be restructured.
At present, the plan is to have Nak-su commit safety management violations so that they can use these as a basis to coerce people into resigning. He is required to prepare a list of 20 people and if he does, it will be going around Jeong-tae and giving him a way back to HQ.
Meanwhile, another dinner is happening, which coincidentally is Jin-woo’s idea to gather intel on Nak-su. He brings out Kim’s old team and they don’t fall for his façade one bit. They even go to Kim’s old team dinner place as well.
The following day, Nak-su is faced with a momentous choice and when he arrives at the factory, he looks around with a totally different perspective. Actually, when he does his workouts, he shouts at the others to focus.’
The Dream Life of Mr. Kim Episode 6 Review
Is Nak-su going to follow through with this or change his mind and actually do something selflessly for others? It would be such a character moment for him to actually side with the workers and save them from the terrible consequences instead of betraying them.
The drama has been quite difficult to keep up with and as I pointed out the other day, Dream Life of Mr Kim has to work on developing its characters more, making them more relatable and likable, because it has been a hard sell up to now.
Ha-jin in the blink of an eye changes from waiting for her results to passing her real estate exam in this episode, and it is quite good that she was the one who got to prove everyone wrong. We are still waiting to see what will happen with that in the second half. About Su-gyeom, it was a business scam news, so now he is spending his time paying back the loans. But we have witnessed no development here after 6 episodes. What is the point of this?
I hope that things get better in the second half because this drama has been very average in all aspects.
