Prime Video Malice What’s it about: An apparently unexceptional, even common or garden, tutor is taken under the wing of the wealthy Tanner family when they go on holiday. But their idyllic, sunshine-soaked days on the Greek island turn into tragedy after tragedy and Adam is always at the center of everything terrible that’s happening. But as Jamie Tanner’s vindictive spirit gets the upper hand, he’ll lose everything and everyone in his life just to get revenge – including both himself and Superman! Adam successfully lures Jamie and Yorgos to a secluded corner before murdering them both, ending this first season of the psychological thriller.
And then he gets away on a boat, leaving Nat to pick up the shards of her completely shattered family. At best, if a continuation is given, a follow-up of the series should become available to the audience sometime around 2027, either in the first or in the last quarter of the year. This assumption is based on the fact that a new season has not been approved yet by Prime Video as of the time of this writing.
Malice Season 2: Will Adam Get Away With Murder?
Season 1 of ‘Malice’ isn’t exactly a cliffhanger kind of story, however, the last moments of the show are linked to the very first scene, thus implying that Adam’s story hasn’t really come to an end. So, there is a strong chance that the police are watching him, a second season might revolve around Adam’s present and how he handles the criminal charges. Nat is alive and well, and maybe the only one who truly sees Adam’s rotten side, so her character might become very different.
Since the police probably do not have any concrete evidence against him, Adam could be off the hook, which would escalate the situation to a great extent, considering his unrestrained homicidal nature. It is worth mentioning that his sister, Sophie, may eventually become the turning point in the story, not only because she has a suspicion of what he is up to but also she agrees with it to a large extent.
Besides the killing of Jamie and Yorgos, the first season also focuses on the death of Damien, whose aftermath remains largely unexplored. Although we see Adam apparently dumping the body in a river, the show doesn’t offer any more of Jules’ perspective, and a sequel might change that. While Adam wants to make it look like Damien’s death is a suicide, the blunt force injuries will probably tell a different, more truthful story, and Jules is unlikely to retreat. Therefore, she may even collaborate with Nat in combating a possible serial killer, thus creating a lot of suspense and excitement for the next episodes. Moreover, the series may delve into the Tanner household’s issues, particularly with the death of the father. Consequently, Kit’s past of drug abuse, as well as the trauma that April and Dexter have been through, might become the main pivots of the story.
Malice Season 2: Anticipating Major Cast Changes
With the cliffhanger of season 2 being very different from the rest of the story, a subsequent chapter of the story may, in fact, be a continuation from the very beginning instead of the ending. In that case, it is highly probable that Jack Whitehall will come back to play the role of Adam Healey, while Carice van Houten might be the one to return as Nat Tanner. Given that, the Teddie Allen, Harry Gilby, and Phoenix Laroche might also come back to the show to reprise their roles as April, Kit, and Dexter Tanner, respectively. Nonetheless, since the narrative has seemingly moved towards the investigation branch, the importance of characters might shift, as well, hence, actor Gloria Garcia, who plays the role of Agent Niki Delgado might get more and more screen time as the series progresses. Similarly, the case is with actor Charlotte Riley, who portrays the role of Adam’s sister and might become a lead character in the future.
The disappearance of Jamie Tanner and Yorgos in the last episode is mainly responsible for the cast changes which probably means the characters of actor David Duchovny and Dimitris Kitsos will be phased out. But as Jamie is the central character of the narrative, season 2 might find other ways of including him like return of events or hallucinations. So, the possibility of Duchovny coming back to play the role is still there. Likewise, the case of Damien, the character of Raza Jaffrey, whose father may be dead but the body has not been found, is similar. Also, if the next episode decides to focus on the storyline of Christine Adams, who is playing the role of Damien’s wife, Jules, then she might become a more prominent character in the series. Apart from that, the series could decide to add some new characters to the storyline and more police officers could be cast in the roles of the plot.
Malice Season 2: Diving Deeper into Adam’s Past
While the first season of ‘Malice’ throws out just enough crumbs from Adam’s past to arouse curiosity, it never actually shows the complete picture. Besides, his own version of the past seems to be confused, which means that a potential season 2 might focus on the unreliability of his narration. Probably, his previous arrest for the alleged murder of a male sex worker will be detailed, and that may help to explain the mysterious spa and sauna scenes that are shown twice in the series and in which Adam’s being a sex worker is implied.
Also, there seems to be a twist regarding his relationship with his sister, Sophie, who sees their father in a completely different way than he does. In particular, the last fight of Adam with Jamie uncovers a deeply tormented psyche, which, as the fan might infer, was probably caused by the abusive practices of his father, Colin Tilder, man. Therefore, a flashback revealing the Tilderman family dynamics is a possibility.
Adam will probably be the one to steal the spotlight if the show is ever continued, but the emotional core of the story still depends on the Tanner family, and maybe Nat will take the lead in that regard. It goes without saying that the show is just a little bit of a dive into the empire that Jamie built through his business, but we can’t say the same for Nat, whose job being dismissed is actually a notable point in the storyline. Therefore, a follow-up story may have her dealing with the loss of her husband and also figuring out how to lead her life in the future. The murder of Jamie will affect the kids’ psychological development, for sure, and we will probably see Kit, April, or Dexter continuing the toxic cycle and thus becoming like Adam in a way. Apart from that, season 2 might also deepen the Jules’ storyline and her level of dedication in her quest for the truth might be revealed further.
