The Beast in Me, a series on Netflix, tells the story of Aggie Wiggs, a writer who is very much set on uncovering the truth about her new neighbor, Nile Jarvis. Through the narrative which is packed with different twists, the lie about the crimes that Nile is involved in and those that he committed by himself is gradually unfolded. Simultaneously, we get to know the secret of Aggie that she had kept from everyone. It ends with her finishing her second novel, a moment of joy for her, while Nile goes to jail.
The final episode which is very well wrapped up and the fact that the series is called a limited one suggest that there may not be a second season of The Beast in Me. However, it is not impossible for Netflix to decide on another season as it was the case with Untamed and therefore if the show is going to be picked up for another season, we expect its coming not earlier than 2027.
The Beast in Me Season 2: A More Personal Journey for Aggie Wiggs
A wonderful thing about ‘The Beast in Me’ is that it handles the mysteries left over from the main case. We find out who did all the murders and killings, and the detectives get along again. However, the creators have left some things open to interpretation by the audience, and it is one of those unresolved plot points that showrunner Howard Gordon would like to delve deeper into. He conveyed that it would be a follow-up season if Netflix decides to take it up. In an interview with TV Insider, he also suggested that there might be a return of Aggie by saying, “If Aggie is still around the world and is a writer, then I think there is probably a story there.”
Gordon mentioned that the season never fully paid off or followed up on the dangling loose end ofA ggie’s father. His spaces are fragmented we learn that he was probably a grifter who got locked up around when she turned twelve. We know that her relationship with him is complicated, and apparently it took a fiercer turn for the worse after she wrote about their dynamic at length in her memoir. The accident and Cooper’s death occurred during her interview at The Times, where she disclosed that after profiting off of his story has been sued by her father – they haven’t spoken since.
It can be explored in the second season that the relationship between the characters is so complex that it can be depicted in more detail, revealing more of Aggie’s beginnings, and giving a better insight of just how far the evil inside her goes. The series could switch between the past and the present, showing fragments of Aggie’s upbringing while also concentrating on her way of dealing with the relationship later. But above all, there will be a crime, a murder, as a result of which she will be at the point where she has no other choice but to face the character of the relationship with her father.
The Beast in Me Season 2: Introducing a New Cast
The Beast in Me Season 2 Cast The cast for of ‘The Beast in Me’ Season 2 could depend on the route the story takes. If it sticks with Aggie and centers on her personal life, I believe you’d see Claire Danes return to play that character. The same can’t be said of Matthew Rhys, whose character winds up dead at the end of the season. Still, his ghost might haunt Aggie should that ever come to be a possibility again sometime soon: A cameo or recurring role is hardly out of the question. Natalie Morales is another actress we are looking forward to seeing again as Shelley, Aggie’s former spouse. Though she has moved on from their relationship, she maintains a friendly relationship with the protagonist.
Once Aggie’s past starts coming into play, perhaps Shelley will factor in more substantially. As much as Aggie’s actions have been defined by the books she writes, so too is her agent, Carol McGiddish (Deirdre O’Connell), likely to put in an appearance. And if the show wants to have some kind of connective tissue with Nile’s side of things, we could imagine Brittany Snow back as Nina Jarvis for an interesting wrinkle in the storyline. So the first of the second season is going to open numerous avenues for new characters, such as Aggie’s father, and steer the storyline towards unperceived possibilities.
The Beast in Me Season 2 Explores Aggie’s Darker Side
Nile Jarvis is the bad guy in ‘The Beast in Me’ at first glance, but after some time, it is revealed that Aggie is drawn to his dark side because she has some darkness in her too. She, on some subconscious level, emotionally bonds with this with Nile, which is also when she starts to wonder if he is innocent. Eventually, his offenses are the ones that are revealed, and he makes it right with them, while she is left to confront her own misdeeds and accept the consequences of her actions. Nevertheless, it is only a small fraction of her that will be hinted, and a second season could explore more of what season one barely reveals.
If a new case was brought to her attention, and her past was following her, she would feel the need to dive even deeper into the pool of self-reflection. The change in her due to the meeting with Nile was also very considerable, and I suppose he might have a way of unlocking something in her that talks to her in a darkly evil way. As the murderer put it, she has a bloodlust that she is not aware of, but which, nevertheless, has a considerable impact on her choices as well as on the things that happen around her. Perhaps, as the second season progressively metaphorical opens the doors of Aggie’s life that she would have chosen to keep locked, we could uncover more of that bloodlust and the havoc it wreaks.
